Home Page
When the Israel Sites app first opens, this home page will appear. In the menu bar at the bottom, you will see four buttons:
• Sites
• Resources
• Notes
• Music

The home page screen is an alphabetical list of all of the sites included in the app. Scroll through the sites by sliding your finger up or down on the screen. Or, use the Alphabet strip on the right to move even faster to a site further down in the Alphabet. When you have found the site you want to view, tap on the name of the site. This will take you to the site's page.
  Example: Search for "Tiberias": 1.) Tap on the letter "T" in the Alphabet strip. 2.) Scroll to "Tiberias". 3.) Tap on "Tiberias". 4.) The site for "Tiberias" will open.

Features in Site Mode include:

Press on the "Show/Hide" button to reveal and hide the text. Slide your finger up or down to navigate through the text.

Photos enlarge for close-up viewing.
Tap on the photo to expand it. Photos enlarge even further, by placing two fingers on the screen and moving them apart. Photos contract by closing the fingers together on the screen.

Description
Each site comes with an historical, biblical, and archeological description. For longer descriptions, extra subheads are added. "Show" and "Hide" buttons allow for quick expansion and compression of the information. Text which is colored blue links to external sites via your web browser. Click the large round "home" button on your phone or pad, then click the Israel Sites icon to return to your place in the app.

Biblical Text
Much of the historical information of the Land of Israel is found in the Bible—in the Hebrew Scriptures and the New Testament. These references are listed in the "Biblical Text" section of each site with a brief description.

Visitor Information
Tour guides, as well as tourists who are traveling independently, will find the "Visitor Information" section for each site helpful. This section includes:
• Location of the site
• Address
• Website
• Telephone number(s)
• Fax number
• Email address
• Mailing address
• Hours of operation
• Cost


The information is taken from the official website of the organization overseeing each site, or from a reliable third-party website.

Read and view pictures about:
• The Historical Timeline of the Land of Israel
• Jewish Holidays, Festivals and Customs
• The Crusader Period
• Hebrew Words and Phrases
• The Nazi Era and the Jewish Holocaust
• The Founding of Modern Israel

and over 100 more interesting articles regarding all things historical and cultural about the land and people of Israel.

Map
Click on the Map button while on a Site page, and Israel Sites will place a red pin on the site's GPS map location. A new menu bar will appear above the main menu bar showing four options:
• Normal: Press this button to see a "Street Map" view of your site and the surrounding area.
• Satellite: Press this button to see a "Satellite" view of your site and the surrounding area.
• Hybrid: Press this button to see a combined  "Street" and "Satellite" view of your site and the surrounding area.
• White Pin: Press this button and the red pins of nearby sites drop onto the map.
Press one of the red pins and the nearby site's name will appear with a blue "Go" button. Press on the blue "Go" button of the nearby site to go to the nearby site's information page.

Notes
The Notes Mode allows you to journal your experiences and thoughts about each site you visit in the Holy Land. 


When first opening Notes, a "+" sign will appear in the upper right section of the upper bar. Tap on it and a blank screen will appear.

Next, tap on the blank screen to activate the cursor. The keyboard will appear and you can begin typing your message. Whatever is typed first will become the title of the note. When finished, press the "Done" button in the left section of the upper title bar of the note.

After pressing the "Done" button, your note will be saved with a "time-stamp" in the top section of the note's screen.

The "Back" button will take you to the main Note home page where all of your notes will be listed in a "Table of Contents".

Three buttons will also appear at the bottom of the note's screen:
• The Trash icon: Press this center button to discard your note. You will be asked one more time after this to "Discard" or "Cancel" your action.

• The Camera icon: Press this left button and take a photo. Once the photo is taken, the Camera Icon will turn into a blue Photo icon.

• The Email icon: Press this right button to email your note and photo to friends back home.

Press the "Back" button in the left section of the upper Title bar to go to the Table of Contents page of Notes. Each note will appear in chronological order. The time stamp will modify with phrases like, "3:37 pm", "one hour ago", "one day ago","three days ago". After a week, the time stamp will record the date and time (i.e., Sept. 3, 3:37 pm).

Music
Israel Sites comes with three free instrumental numbers from the 2010 award-winning album Portals to Heaven. Each song features the Irish Whistle accompanied by orchestra and soft piano, perfect for setting the right mood while touring the Israeli countryside. Imagine King David playing the flute with the Levites backing him up on stringed instruments and harp.

• Stop
• Next song


Music will play in the background while in other modes in Israel Sites or while using other apps. To stop: Open the Israel Sites app, go to Music Mode and press "Stop".
